How to make the most of your summer holiday: tips from Blueberry Roasters

A glance at the calendar tells us it is already mid-August. Sadly, that means more than half the summer holidays are behind us. If you have not managed to make the most of those sunny days, or feel you could get much more out of summer 2021, do not worry — there is still time! We have a few ideas to help you enjoy the last two weeks to the fullest. Interested?

Give yourself permission to switch off

With technology everywhere, it is easy to think we are relaxing once we get home from work. Nothing could be further from the truth. Summer days may be longer than winter ones, yet we stubbornly stick to the same routine. We turn on the television and scroll through Facebook, Instagram or TikTok, only to describe another day as tiring, boring or uneventful. What if you got organised and set off on a bike ride or a walk around your local area? Choose a destination, make your favourite coffee and take it with you in a reusable cup. It does not take much to slow down and step away from the endless tasks, thoughts and distractions that leave us mentally exhausted.

What if the weather is not playing along? We have ideas for that too. You can rest and unwind in the comfort of your own home. How about using your spare holiday time to catch up on your reading? It does not have to be a book: a magazine or newspaper will do just as well. Choose whatever you enjoy getting lost in. Do not forget to make your favourite tea. Classic fruit teas are lovely in summer; we explored them in our blog post Fruit tea: discover unique flavours and aromas. Our suggestions do not end there. There is also colourful bubble tea and blue butterfly pea tea. As you can see, there is plenty to choose from. Time spent with a book and one of these drinks certainly will not be wasted.

Is that everything? Not at all — there are summer evenings to enjoy too. Make good use of them. Consider meditation, yoga, Pilates or a relaxing bath with salts, aromatic oils and, of course, scented candles. You could add some soothing music too — why not?

A holiday closer to nature

After eight hours of work, or on a day off, there is nothing better than giving your mind a break in the fresh air. As we mentioned earlier, you could take a short walk or get on your bike. Better still, plan a whole day in the mountains or a picnic by a lake. Most of us know at least a few attractive places nearby where we can enjoy some peaceful downtime.

Do not overthink it. Just pack a blanket and some food, and have a picnic with the people closest to you. See how something so simple can refresh a mind overloaded with information. It is a chance for a complete reset.

We would not be ourselves if we did not suggest a coffee ritual to suit the occasion. If you are heading outdoors, take coffee! Of course, you can prepare it at home and pour it into a flask, but that is not the only option. We know a better one: the AeroPress, a brewer used by both beginners and professional baristas to make excellent coffee. All you need is hot water — bring it in a flask — good ground coffee and, if you like, sugar. You will need cups as well, naturally.

Coffee tastes different outdoors — somehow even better. Try it for yourself!

Time for a sunny barbecue with family and friends

What would summer be without a good barbecue? Getting together around the grill is a perfect opportunity to see loved ones, prepare delicious food and make some surprising summer drinks. There is a reason people say we Poles love a barbecue. It is simply a time to relax, enjoy long summer evenings and good company, and tuck into grilled treats with a drink. Relaxation in its purest form!

Given Poland's climate, summer really is the best season for a barbecue. So while the weather lets us enjoy its charms, let us make the most of the chance to eat together outdoors.

We hope you feel inspired!
