Perfect storm — matching brewing methods and coffee roasts
Coffee roasting is an art mastered by the chosen few, while we mere mortals can only enjoy the results. Chocolate-coloured beans roasted in a drum according to a roaster's carefully devised profile have particular qualities: selected tasting notes, a level of acidity or bitterness and, of course, body. Yet we all have our favourites: one person likes a strong, cream-thick body and caramel aroma; another prefers a tangy black coffee filled with wild-fruit notes. Each roast profile creates a bean with a slightly different body, acidity and aromatic bouquet, and a well-chosen brewing method helps bring them out of freshly ground coffee.
